Mark Jorgensen founded Desert Solace with his wife Jerri in 2011 following his own journey of recovery from pornography addiction. After being exposed to pornography at a young age, Mark suffered in silence and shame for more than 30 years before circumstances and a good friend compelled him to be willing to face his addiction and the inner demons that fueled it. He created Desert Solace with the hope that by stepping through that shame and sharing his story with others, they might be able to find that same hope and inner peace.

Dakota Mortensen has been struggling with addiction since he was 17, only to have it completely take everything he loved. It took his basketball scholarship and he suffered the pains of divorce. Dakota now feels like addiction has been the biggest blessing in his life and he is forever thankful for how much it has allowed him to grow, especially having more compassion and understanding for those who suffer. Dakota’s dream now is one day to start his own rehab center and also work with kids who are going through trauma and addiction.
Dakota hopes to be able to share something he learned from this to help anyone who is listening. His story will inspire you to believe you can do anything and overcome your own struggles. You are going to love him.

Martin Frey is a World Record Holder. Adventurer. Public Speaker. Thinker. Investor. Humanitarian. The first person to climb the Seven Summits and sail the Seven Seas.
On April 17, 2016, Martin Frey became the first person in the world to climb the Seven Summits – the highest peaks on each continent – and sail the Seven Seas. It was Martin’s late climbing partner and friend, Steve Gasser, who first suggested he climb all Seven Summits – the highest peaks on each continent – while the two were climbing Denali. Martin was inspired to complete their mission after Steve’s untimely death a few months later. In December 2012, Martin summited his final peak – Mount Vinson in Antarctica.
With the Seven Summits completed, the ocean began calling to Martin again. His unprecedented achievement was certified by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS, which acknowledged him as the first person to climb the Seven Summits and cross the Seven Seas by sailboat.
Through this 11-year journey, Martin has learned to face uncertainty, adjust his course in the face of challenges, and never compromise his will to accomplish what he set out to do. He has a great spirit of adventure and demonstrates how an ordinary man anyone can accomplish extraordinary things with planning, a solid support team, a common goal, and some calculated risk.
While looking forward to whatever his next big adventure may be, Martin hopes to take the lessons he’s learned and use them to inspire youth and adults around the world. By facing your summit, having the courage to leave the safety of your harbor, and charting your course for success, Martin truly believes anyone can accomplish whatever they set their mind to.

Casdon Jardine is never satisfied and is always looking for the most out of life. He is a big dreamer and a hard worker. His greatest achievements aren’t his Bachelor’s or Master’s Degrees, not his years of basketball, but the foundation that he and now his wife have built and are building to have a family that is centered on the things that truly matter most!
Casdon has dedicated the majority of his life to the game of basketball and always loved the grind of working to be the best he could be. From a state championship in high school to playing for three different D1 universities, basketball was a tool in helping him to believe in himself and that he can do anything.
He served a two-year LDS mission in the Brazil Fortaleza East Mission. Casdon takes challenges head-on and can be overly analytical in situations that sometimes require more empathy and feeling… he’s working on that though!
While playing at UVU and before transferring to the University of Hawaii, Casdon met his amazing wife, Savvy Jardine (who has also been on the Beliefcast). The simplest way to put it is that they are the dream team. You are really going to enjoy his story.

Megan Smart-Relf is one of a kind and brightens up every room she walks into. With 5 siblings all at least 12 years older than her, she grew up rather quickly, while also keeping her parents young. At a young age, she endured several trials that she feels helped shape her and start her on the path toward her career in mental health.
She played soccer and ended her career at the collegiate level. She graduated with her bachelor's in psychology, with a certificate of applied positive psychology from the University of Utah. She then quickly jumped into the Social Work program at UVU during which she endured a miscarriage, experienced a pregnancy, and welcomed her firstborn all while still managing to graduate top of her class and as president of her cohort.
She deeply values the love, connection, and relationships she has with those around her, especially her husband, Devin, and new daughter!
Megan has always had a passion for jumping into the trenches with others who are struggling, helping them see their true worth and value, and walking alongside them as they find their way to fulfillment and success. Megan finds joy in the work she gets to do with her clients as a clinical therapist at Wasatch Recovery. She believes that true happiness stems from real, authentic connection that is ultimately found in being vulnerable and continually showing up for and as yourself!

Max Hall is best known for being the winningest QB in BYU history with 32 career wins. Max was an All-Mountain West Conference First team… earned an ESPN helmet sticker for his performance against UCLA, where he completed 27-35 passes for 471 yards and a school record 7 TD passes…was nationally ranked in the top 5 passing yards per game, total passing yards, QB efficiency, and completions per game… Five-time MWC Conference Player of the Week in 2009…and a top 10 finalist for the Heisman Trophy. He was on his way to doing great things with football as he started his NFL career.
Due to some injuries and setbacks, Max found himself addicted to opiates, something he was trying to hide from himself, his family, and the world. All things came crashing down when he was busted and arrested for shoplifting and cocaine possession.
Tune in and find out how Max turned things around. He is now the offensive Coordinator at American Leadership Academy Queen Creek. He is married to his wife McKinzi and has 2 children, Rex and Hayden. Max also has recently opened a substance abuse counseling center in Mesa, Arizona called Victory Recovery.
